Moku ("we", "our", or "us") is an iOS application published by Calm Delight LLC, a Wyoming limited liability company. Moku is built to keep your reading library on your own devices. There is no account, no advertising, and no analytics SDK. The only time article text leaves your device is when you use AI features (summaries, key points, tags, or translation).
1. No Accounts
Moku does not require registration or sign-in. The app never asks for your name, email address, or phone number. There is no user profile we could attach data to.
2. Where Your Articles Live
Saved articles, full text, images, reading position, and related library data are stored on this device. If iCloud is enabled for the app, that library syncs to your own iCloud private database via Apple CloudKit. That database belongs to your Apple Account. Calm Delight cannot see, search, or export its contents.
3. When Text Leaves the Device
To generate a summary, key points, tags, or a translation, Moku sends the article’s title and text to our API gateway, which forwards it to a language-model provider. Fetching an article and reading it offline do not require this step. If you do not use AI on an article, its body never goes to our gateway.
We do not keep a copy of that text after the request finishes. We do not use it to train models, build a dossier, or link it to an identity — there is no account to link it to.
4. Third-Party Processors
When AI runs, or when the library syncs, the following processors may handle data as described. None of them receive a Moku account identifier, because Moku has none.
- Apple CloudKit: optional sync of your library to your iCloud private database. Apple provides this as part of iCloud. Calm Delight cannot read that database.
- Apple DeviceCheck: the first time you use AI, Moku asks Apple whether this is a genuine Apple device, then issues a credential used only to rate-limit our gateway. Apple answers with two bits. The app does not receive a persistent hardware identifier.
- Cloudflare: our API gateway runs on Cloudflare Workers. It receives the title and text of an article you asked to summarize or translate, forwards that request to a model provider, and returns the result. We do not retain the article body after the call.
- Luna and DeepSeek: language-model providers used through that gateway (Luna as the primary model, DeepSeek as the fallback). They receive the text needed to produce the summary, tags, or translation you requested.
Payments, if any, are processed by Apple. We never see your payment details.
5. Device Check
DeviceCheck exists so other people cannot freely use the AI gateway with a copied token. It does not identify you personally.
6. Analytics and Advertising
Moku does not include analytics or advertising SDKs. We do not log what you read or how long you read it. Crash reports exist only if you choose to share them with the developer in iOS Settings.
7. How to Delete Your Data
Deleting the app removes the library on that device. The iCloud copy, if any, can be removed in Settings → [your Apple Account] → iCloud → Manage Account Storage. Moku’s Settings screen can export the full library first.
8. Children’s Privacy
Moku is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.
